She emerged from the waves.
That night the beach was deserted and the moonshine was covering the water with a silver cloak. The white foam on the waves was gleaming and as the wave returned back to the sea a mermaid emerged from the moist sand and so I began to chant this song for her.
Agora estou suavemente aberta
Mae d’aguas cristalina
encantada me illumina”
[English]
“Under the silver moon I call your name
Janaína, Alodê, Odofiaba Minha-mãe Odoyá!
I open my soul to receive your compassion
I open my soul to receive your beauty
I open my soul to receive your song
and just as I wanted to find you
I discovered my self on this sea shore,
the sure dwelling of my heart
and now I am gently open
Mother of the crystalline waters
enchanted she illuminates me”
